OUR HORSES

Biscuit

Biscuit is an 14 year old quarter horse who loves attention and his work as a therapy horse. His easy going yet social personality, medium size and quality movement make him an ideal horse for hippotherapy treatments. He was the first therapy horse at Surf and Turf Therapy, and our community helped fund the purchase of him from Cindy Forrest Performance horses in 2021, after being loaned to the program the first three years. He is generously sponsored by the Golden Eagle Foundation.

May

May is a 17 year old quarter horse who happens to big Biscuit's big sister! She has a smooth, rhythmic gait, which is great for relaxing tight muscles and providing low impact strengthening opportunities for our riders. She absolutely LOVES snacks and entertaining her riders doing tricks for a treat.  Cindy Forrest Performance Horses generously donated May to work in the program. May is available for sponsorship.

Cadillac

Cadillac is a 7-year-old Welsh/Haflinger cross gelding who may be small in size but is truly mighty in heart and ability. Standing at just 12 hands, he is our shortest horse yet is strong enough to confidently carry adults, with powerful, rhythmic movement that makes him an excellent hippotherapy partner. Smart, playful, inquisitive, and nearly unflappable. He came to us from Twilight Farms (the same wonderful farm Pallaton came from) and was purchased through our reserve fund because we knew he was too special to let slip away. Cadillac is already making a huge impact as a full-time therapy horse and is available for sponsorship — please contact Dr. Jillian at jillian@surfandturftherapy.org or 949-312-7227 ext. 700 to help support his permanent place in our herd.

Pallaton

Pallaton is a 6-year-old Pintaloosa from Twilight Farms in Ohio. As a draft cross, he boasts strength and stability, making him an ideal fit for our hippotherapy and therapeutic riding programs. His calm demeanor and desensitization training allow him to support riders of all abilities, and he even knows a few tricks! Beyond his skills, Pallaton is sweet, quirky, and always eager to be part of the action. He loves attention and quickly settled into his role as a therapy horse. He is generously on loan and sponsored by the Ikenberry Family.

Fergie

Fergie is a stunning 16-year-old Quarter Horse mare with the grace of her show days and the heart of a true therapy horse. A former Youth World Champion in 13–15 Under Saddle, she offers smooth, rhythmic movement and calm confidence, earning her reputation as a true “mama mare” who takes special care of her riders. Fergie supports both hippotherapy and independent riders, and is thriving being a part of the action from vaulting in physical therapy to helping independent riders advance their skills. She has already captured the hearts of everyone at the barn, and we are deeply grateful to Susan and Abrielle for generously donating this beautiful mare to the program. Fergie is available for sponsorship.

Tomahawk

Tomahawk is an 15 year old spotted saddle horse. Her unique markings and sparkling personality makes her a head turner everywhere she goes. She formerly played arena polo at OC Polo Club and quickly settled in to her new job as a therapy horse. She has a forward movement which our sensory seekers love, is completely fearless and is an excellent horse for people of all abilities from beginners to those looking to work on more advanced skills, like polo and cantering.  Owner Dave Myrick generously allows her to work in our program. Tomahawk is available for sponsorship.

Emma

Emma is a 26 year old sweet, red dun mare with bright blue eyes. She is an even tempered horse who always seems to be in the mood to work, making her the perfect match for riders of all abilities. Her easy going attitude makes her a natural teacher for volunteers who are newer to leading horses. When patients or family members arrive at the barn she is one of the first to greet them and helps those who may be a little fearful with her smile. Next time you are at the barn, just scratch her shoulder and you will see!  Emma is generously on loan from and sponsored by her owner Dave Myrick.

Cosmo & Trooper

Cosmo, 5 year old Appaloosa (right)  and Trooper, 12 year old (left), are miniature horses. They are the best of friends and are incredibly sweet additions to the team. Their snuggles are highly motivating for patients working on standing, walking and more. They also allow our participants to gain experience and confidence with horsemanship skills, like grooming and ground work. They have both been trained to pull a cart, as well as work with little riders under saddle! Both Cosmo and Trooper were generously donated by The Franklin Family to work in our program.  Cosmo & Trooper are available for sponsorship.

Paddington

Paddington is a 22 year old new forest pony. He is originally from the Netherlands and even has a passport! He is a super level headed little guy with the perfect amount of pep in his step to give our clients a great, high repetition core and balance workout. An absolute pleasure to work with the volunteers and participants alike all love this pony. Jennie Bershon is generously allowing Paddy to work in the program.

Dave

Dave is a 19 year old Buckskin American Quarter Horse who previously worked as a ranch horse and a pony horse at the racetrack. He has a sweet, calm personality and forward movement, making him a perfect fit for our sensory seekers. He quickly became an important part of the S&T herd. He is generously on loan by Desiree & Chris Mills.

Claire

Claire is a 24-year-old pony who is as steady as they come, with a sweet disposition and easy-to-lead nature that makes her a favorite among riders and volunteers alike. Her rhythmic, repetitive movement provides ideal input for hippotherapy, offering consistency and comfort for participants who benefit from predictable motion. Claire is generously allowed to work in the program by All About Horses, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to have her supporting our riders.

Diva

Diva is an 18-year-old mare who brings strength, steadiness, and personality to the program. Tall, strong, and not easily spooked, Diva offers smooth, reliable movement and a confident presence that supports our riders as they continue to grow, build independence, and make progress toward their goals. Diva is generously allowed to work in the program by All About Horses.

Gigi

Gigi is a steady star at 29 years old, as she has been there and done that with absolutely everything - from sorting cows to carrying the flag in the Swallow's Day parade, nothing phases her. Her confidence and reliability make her an excellent therapy horse. Cindy Forrest Performance Horses is generously allowing her to work in the program.

Socks

Socks is a calm 32-year-old pony who brings steadiness and confidence to every session. Socks is comfortable with all therapy toys and movements, happy to help however needed. He is aslo a wonderful confidence builder, often giving new riders their very first ride. He is on loan from our friend Manette Idris, and we are so grateful to have him as part of the Surf & Turf Therapy team.

In Memory - Banjo

Banjo, a Bay appendix lived a full life with his owner, Ashleigh Magnus,  local equine photographer. He was an accomplished barrel racer and a jumper, a lesson horse and a retired trick horse. His favorite activity was trail riding, until he started taking care of his Surf & Turf riders. His gentle disposition and happy ears made him a stand out around the barn. He retired in the spring of 2025 and passed a few months later. Thank you for your dedication to our riders Banjo!

Sponsor a Therapy Horse. Change a Life

Hear directly from one of our Surf & Turf Therapy families about why sponsoring a therapy horse matters to them. Horse sponsorships provide essential care for the horses who make our programs possible and create meaningful, lasting connections between families and the herd. Watch their story, then consider becoming a sponsor.
